Axos Invest is looking for an experienced, product-oriented developer to join our software engineering team and help ensure that the experience of our clients is second to none. This can mean anything from building new microservices, to enhancing our trading platform, to improving performance and maintainability of our code base. This is a unique opportunity to join a team that is focused on removing everything you currently hate about finance and financial technology (we don’t hate it, but it’s time to do it a lot better) and replacing them with everything you (will) love.

The Role

  • Web API development, as well as some UI feature development
  • Assist the software development team with continuous integration processes, test automation, and the latest frameworks and tools with the LAMP stack
  • Participate in technical design and contribute insights and ideas
  • Successfully troubleshoot most application problems independently; determine the root cause and fix the problem
  • Contribute to the development of project plans, identify key milestones, and raise critical project issues such as resource needs and contingencies
  • Support other developers through problem solving by identifying as well as evolving standards, best practices and reusable solutions
  • Document code and system processes and procedures in a clear manner 

Are You A Fit?

  • 5+ years' API development (preferrably using PHP, but not required)
  • Solid understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns
  • MVC frameworks (Symfony, Doctrine, Angular)
  • Back-end development experience on the LAMP stack
  • API design, implementation and integration
  • Version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.)
  • Key value stores (Redis, Memcached)
  • Deployment Systems (Terraform, Capistrano, Jenkins, Docker, Vagrant)
  • Background processing
  • Test-driven development (PHPUnit, Behat or similar)
  • Agile/SCRUM methodology
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team member


  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field
  • Financial services industry experience
